Job Description:

Responsibilities:
As an Accountant at the NSA, you will be instrumental in administering and potentially remediating a wide array of critical accounting work streams, using the PeopleSoft financial system. Responsibilities of an Accountant include, but are not limited to:

-
Authorizing, recording, classifying, and summarizing economic events
-Recording and analyzing complex non-routine transactions
-Performing reconciliations of reporting and accounting entries
-Monitoring financial systems operations for legal compliance and internal control purposes
-Preparing reports on financial status and operations for external oversight authorities
-Using managerial accounting systems to help decision makers manage cost and measure performance
-Recording, evaluating, and remediating general property, plant, and equipment

Skills:
The ideal candidate is someone with a desire for continual learning and strong communication, problem-solving, analytic, and interpersonal skills, and using the Microsoft Office Suite.

Candidates will also be required to:

- Record and analyze financial data and transactions for legality, appropriateness, and accuracy
- Use specialized software packages for tasks such as inventory management, financial management,
equipment diagnostics, or other specialized functions
- Use spreadsheet and relational database software, such as Microsoft Excel and Access
- Help or assist coworkers, subordinates, or other employees when needed
- Work as part of a team
- Strong preference given to those with detailed Excel skills, i.e., pivot tables, using formulas, etc.
- Strong preference given to those with Federal Accounting experience (Experienced level positions)

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule:
Pay: Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position.

Salary Range: $57,164 - $131,826 (Entry/Developmental, Full Performance)
Salary range varies by location, work level, and relevant experience to the position.

Training will be provided based on the selectee's needs and experience.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible). **Core daily job duties must be done on location in the office located at Ft. Meade, MD**
