Job Description:
Duties
• Identifies complex legal issues that are related to depository institutions and within the Unit's responsibilities, and supervises the conduct of legal research of these issues.
• Confers with and advises senior management with regard to legal matters in areas of responsibility. Independently interprets and applies applicable statutory and regulatory guidelines.
• Coordinates the negotiation and consummation of sales, settlements, workouts, and restructurings that arise out of the liquidation of failed Insured Depository Institutions (IDI).
• Oversees the preparation of memoranda of law and other instruments related to the management and resolution of receiverships, such as marketing of failing and failed IDI, claims, settlements, employee benefit plans, and receivership termination.
• Exercises supervisory personnel management authority directly or indirectly through subordinate senior managers to include, but not limited to, assigning and reviewing work, assessing employee performance, providing counseling and coaching as necessary, and reviewing and approving leave, training and travel requests.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants must submit a resume that addresses each minimum qualification experience. Leadership Experience: Legal experience leading collaborative efforts or coordinating the work of employees in a work unit, including assigning and evaluating work; setting priorities, timelines, and expectations; and monitoring progress against goals.
Technical Experience 1: Experience in advising clients on legal matters related to the resolution of failing or failed Insured Depository Institutions (IDIs), franchise marketing, or bank closings.
Technical Experience 2: Experience in advising clients on the sale of assets from failed Insurance Depository Institutions (IDIs).
Basic Qualification Requirement: License to practice before the highest court of a state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia and in good standing.
