Vice President, PFR IT
Summary
Berkshire Hathaway PenFed Realty is hiring a Vice President of IT in Alexandria, Virginia. The primary purpose of this job is to be responsible for leading the Information Technology teams for PenFed Realty and Title. This role will play an influential role in shaping IT strategy, reducing department costs, negotiating and managing vendor contracts, and improving employee talent, commitment and morale. Additionally, this role will work closely with the senior leadership team to align all aspects of Information Technology with the company's overall business strategies.
Essential Functions

Plan and manage technical support for all affiliated IT systems including support of applications, network, telephony, and general IT infrastructure.
Manage help desk to ensure best-in-class technical support is provided to employees and agents in a timely manner. Establishes job/task priorities, manages problems and projects.
Formulate long-term plans and communicates how IT can help transform the business. Balances short and long-range considerations when solving problems.
Develop the IT team through promotion of a positive environment and teamwork spirit, competence development - providing clear vision, issue resolution, motivation and mentoring.
Foster a strong customer service mind-set throughout the IT department, while promoting thought leadership and innovation as partners to the business.
Promote implementation of standardized and automated operations management processes, and the implementation of standardized tools, to improve production service performance and availability.
Ensure hardware and software assets are tracked and managed properly, that timely maintenance is performed for all systems, and particularly that systems vulnerabilities are promptly addressed.
Develop and continuously improves metrics and reporting related to production service performance and quality.
Maintain abreast of industry and technology developments, researches services, products and education as industry and organizational requirements evolve, and provides recommendations for strategic technology directions and long range planning.
Provide detailed IT budget analysis, requirements and costs based on IT staffing, expenses, and proposed project requirements; makes sound purchase decisions; evaluates complex business proposals and communicates recommendations to senior management.
Manage internal applications so they are available, reliable and meet reasonable performance requirements.
Manage security as applied to network, telephony, servers and workstations and Active Directory security architecture.
Exercise authority in handling all personnel issues related to hiring, terminating, counseling, evaluating, salary increases, training, and scheduling.

Education and Experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
Minimum of ten (10) years of directly related technical experience or a combination of education and experience necessary to effectively perform the duties.
Successful track record of leading and developing IT infrastructure and operations teams.
Proven ability to lead support teams with emphasis on customer satisfaction.
Excellent management, leadership and interpersonal skills are required.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required.
Possess knowledge of the technical challenges that affect vendor relationships and contract terms.
Possess the ability to forecast and track budget expenditures.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft server and workstation operating systems, core Microsoft architectural technologies such as Active Directory and Microsoft security initiatives (security updates and patching tools).
Strong knowledge of systems management practices and tools, network protocols and web applications.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will directly supervise employees.
Licenses and Certifications
There are no additional licenses and/or certifications required.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
*Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*
Travel
Travel to operational locations, including occasional overnight travel.
