Job Description:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading provider of automated software testing, data analysis and cybersecurity solutions for complex US Department of Defense (DOD) systems, is seeking an IT Specialist / System Administrator with Linux/VMware to provide technical leadership across IDT’s distributed classified development environment. An active DOD Secret Clearance is required.

Qualified candidates will have at least 5 years’ experience in system administration, to include managing the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of infrastructure built upon Linux and VMware. This position requires a mission-oriented, innovative problem solver dedicated to providing a high level of customer service to the programs and engineers the infrastructure supports. In addition, this position requires the technical leadership and technology awareness to design, develop, and implement state of market technical solutions.

The IT Specialist / System Administrator will implement and maintain complex, virtualized, real-time solutions for the IT corporate network and also support closed area labs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the development and execution of an infrastructure technical strategy that helps lead the way for IDT business and technology products
Install, configure and maintain a wide range of hardware and software
Key role in cyber security operations
Develop software/scripts to mitigate daily redundant tasks
Respond to reported issues, requests and inquiries of a problematic technical or functional nature, and suggest or deploy fixes and enhancements
Work with vendor technical support as needed
Interface with customer SMEs to successfully execute on programs
Develop and deploy IT capability for corporate and tactical applications
Assist with software license management across the company
Assist with system/server updates and refreshes
Perform weekly audits on closed area systems
Other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or Math
Active DOD Secret Clearance
Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a System Administrator, to include:
Experience in implementing, configuring, and maintaining Linux variants including Red Hat 5 and above, CentOS, and Redhawk, etc.
Experience in VMware infrastructure and software, including ESXi 5.5 and above, VMware vSphere 6.5 and above
Experience in networking technologies and concepts including Cisco and Dell
Understanding and experience with cyber security operations
Experience working with various SAN technologies
Experience in implementing, configuring, and maintaining all variants of Microsoft Windows
Experience programming in Java, C++, JavaScript, Typescript, and Python
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to perform many concurrent assignments and determine the need for changing priorities
Solid analytical abilities, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive
Ability to travel up to 15%
Experience in the following areas a plus:

Experience in ISSM or ISSO role
Experience in FISMA compliance implementations
All applicants must be US citizens and be able to maintain an active DOD security clearance.

This role is located in Arlington, VA. Approximately 15% travel time may be required. Candidates must be willing to support IDT’s Mission and Values.
